Spotify Unwrapped 2021: Mangled Carpenter and the year 'Under The Shadow'

This was an exciting year for my death metal band Mangled Carpenter. What started as an idea back in high school, circa 1990, with my brother Kristeffor, finally became a reality in 2021.

Technically we started recording music back in 2005, releasing a demo, this year brought our debut full-length album "Under The Shadow".

Released through Hagah Recordings, an extreme music division of Rottweiler Records, "Under The Shadow" marked the completion of a lifelong dream for the band. The music features ferocious guitars mixed with grindcore speed and savage chugs, while the blast beats attempt to melt the listener's face off. The lyrics are all biblically themed, many focusing on the more extreme biblical stories such as the destruction of the flood (Clawing The Ark), Judas' betrayal and ultimate demise (The Hanging of Judas), Jonah's misadventures (FishVomit), and the possession of Mary Magdalene by seven demons (Extract the Ghosts).

I know our streaming numbers are modest compared to a lot of other bands, but we are genuinely stoked that people gave us their time. When there is so much music (and other entertainment) vying for everyone's time these days, it truly makes the almost 10k streams that much more valuable. Especially for a genre that is pretty niche, extreme death metal with grindcore influences. We are grateful!

After releasing our debut full-length album "Under The Shadow" this year, we connected with so many awesome fans of extreme music as well as other bands and artists. We are looking forward to progressing as a band while keeping the music vicious.

Please be sure to follow our Mangled Carpenter Spotify page. Add a song or two to your favorite heavy playlists. That really helps us get the word out to other fans of extreme music.

Thanks again to anyone out there who streamed or bought our music on Spotify or other streaming platforms. We truly appreciate it!
