MONTEREY, CA. - Composer Seth Metoyer of Monterey, California, has released a new easy listening instrumental album titled Musings by the Bay. Landing mainly within the New Age music genre, the music features an eclectic combination of pianos, synthesizers, violins, ambient sounds, mallets and other percussion instruments.
About the inspiration behind the release, Metoyer said "I wanted to capture the essence and beauty of the Monterey Bay area and translate that through music."
In fact, many of the natural sounds intertwined within the songs were recorded right in the Monterey Bay area. Everything from familiar sounds such as the ocean, to small birds, crows, wind chimes, a crackling campfire, and rainfall just to name a few.
The stunning album photo was taken by local Monterey photographer Brad Wright at Asilomar Beach, in Pacific Grove, CA.
This is Metoyer's first solo release and the music was recorded over a three month period during quarantine in midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. The release is available on all streaming platforms including Spotify, Bandcamp, iTunes, and Amazon Music as well as on physical CD.
There's even a Jazz instrumental track towards the end of the album that nods to the Jazz Festival that visits the area every year.
"The song 'Jazz on the Wind' is one of the more eclectic tunes on 'Musings by the Bay'. It's a moderately mellow Jazz song that was inspired by the yearly Jazz Festival that comes to Monterey. The area buzzes with Jazz over several days and can often be heard 'on the wind' from my house near the event location. It is an homage to that and adds an extra element of depth to the album." said Metoyer.
