'Random Acts of Violence' review

By Chip Learner, MoreHorror,

Random Acts of Violence is a hard-hitting brutal film that follows a young man new in town, the impressionable Chris Donds (Esteban Powell), who is drawn into the super-wealthy scene of Los Angeles after dark, he confuses his morals and beliefs for absolution and opportunity... the life that dreams as fast as it lives.

From director – Jay Baruchel (Goon: Last of the Enforcers, Trailer Park Boys). Starring – Jesse Williams (Cabin in the Woods, Jacob’s Ladder), Jordana Brewster (The Faculty, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning), and Jay Baruchel).

Baruchel’s “Random Acts of Violence” is a disheartening film that taunts some extreme violence and exploitation of real-life tragedies. The movie follows a horror comic writer and his girlfriend who travel to locate inspiration for an ending to his comic series “Slasherman”. The comic series is inspired by real-life murders and he’s hoping to figure out a proper ending. Now someone is following him and echoing portions of his own comic “Slasherman”. Pretty solid storyline.

The actors bring their top performances and held this viewer’s attention through most of the film. There are some jarring and stressful scenes and gorehounds should enjoy the brutality that unfolds onscreen.

Give this one a view if you have a Shudder subscription or track down the Blu-ray.
