With all the positive word of mouth and social media buzz, along with quotes like "a blazing blood-bucket of brilliance" – Patton Oswalt, “Marvel Meets Troma” – Variety, and “Spielberg meets Megadeth” – KCRW’s Press Play, it's easy to see why there's so much enthusiasm surrounding PG: PSYCHO GOREMAN.
The film released on DVD and Blu-ray March 16, 2021 from RLJE Films, a business unit of AMC Networks, and Shudder.
Written and directed by Steven Kostanski (The Void, The Divide, Father’s Day), PG: PSYCHO GOREMAN stars Nita-Josee Hanna (Books of Blood, 4teen), Owen Myre (“NOS4A2,” Alternate Ground), Adam Brooks (The Return, Father’s Day), Alexis Hancey (Silver Tongue ), and Matthew Ninaber (Transference).
In PG: PSYCHO GOREMAN, siblings Mimi and Luke unwittingly resurrect an ancient alien overlord who was entombed on Earth millions of years ago after a failed attempt to destroy the universe. They nickname the evil creature Psycho Goreman (or PG for short) and use the magical amulet they discovered to force him to obey their childish whims. It isn’t long before PG’s reappearance draws the attention of intergalactic friends and foes from across the cosmos and a rogues’ gallery of alien combatants converges in small-town suburbia to battle for the fate of the galaxy.
This film is an all-around not to be taken seriously genre funny and gory blast. Fans of over the top 80's horror-comedies similar to Monster Squad or Troma flicks are in for a treat. In a day when everyone is looking for something to cancel, troll, or whine about, take a break from the hate and try to just be a kid again who enjoys horror movies for exactly what they are.
The practical effects in PG: PSYCHO GOREMAN are top-notch and the main character, PG, is stylishly refreshing. His brash comments to his "master" (similar to a Genie) are over the top, crude, and often hilarious. The kids take all the evil and meanness in stride and roll with it like it was just a typical day at the park.
So grab a big bag of microwave popcorn, some of your favorite theater snacks, and dive into this one in the comfort of your own home. And remember, movies are supposed to be fun.
