Anything For Jackson Synopsis:
In ANYTHING FOR JACKSON, after a tragic car accident that took their grandson’s life, Audrey and Henry are unable to go on without him. Following the guidance of their ancient spellbook, the elderly couple decides to abduct a young pregnant woman with the intention of performing a "reverse exorcism” to channel their grandson’s spirit inside her unborn child. But when it becomes clear the ritual has called upon more than one spirit, the couple realizes they have summoned more than they bargained for and must put an end to the evil entity they’ve invoked.
Directed by Justin G. Dyck (Christmas With a Prince) and written by Keith Cooper (A Witches’ Ball), ANYTHING FOR JACKSON stars Sheila McCarthy (The Broken Hearts Gallery, Die Hard 2), Julian Richings (Spare Parts, Man of Steel), Konstantina Mantelos (“Miss Misery”, “Paranormal 911”) and Yannick Bisson (“Murdoch Mysteries”).
RLJE Films and Shudder partnered on this release as they have been doing for a while now. Even though this film is available on Shudder, if you are a physical media person still, snag this one!
Anything For Jackson follows an elderly couple Audrey (McCarthy) and Henry (Richings) who lost their grandson after a dreadful accident. Being Satanists, they know about an ancient book that might potentially resurrect him, but the cost is high.
McCarthy and Richings have good chemistry and play off each other well as the elderly couple who want to get their grandson back.
This supernatural haunted house story mixes aspects of the occult together well. The elderly couple is a bit reminiscent of Minnie and Roman Castevet from Rosemary's Baby. A couple that seems really nice and are often posed as Christians in similar films, but like the Castevet's, they are batting from the other side of the religious equation.
There are some bloody scenes in this film so horror fans should be happy with that. Give this one a go if you like haunted house or occult-centric films.
