The Chain by Evanescence from Gear 5

Some quick thoughts on the new Evanescence cover of Fleetwood Mac's The Chain. First off it's great to hear Amy Lee belting vocals again for Evanescence.

How's The Mix? Well, it's hit and miss. Amy's vocals stand out in the mix as they should. The usual reverb makes her voice echo and fill the room. The orchestral parts blend well with the guitars.

I'm not a fan of the drum mix. The drums sound muddy and flat. The bass drums are flat, snare is very flat and muddy. The "tink-tink" on the high hat cymbals are clear though as well as the other cymbals. The Tom-Toms are mixed better toward the end of the song.

The bass guitar is mixed a bit muddied as well. In fact toward the 2 minute mark the drums and bass guitar really fight with the orchestra and together almost drown out Lee's vocals.

Final verdict. 2.8/5 Mixing Knobs. Seth Metoyer, Affordable Audio Mixing affordableaudiomixing@gmail.com
