We just checked out the single 'Slave Species of the God's' by Blood Incantation. It's a slick death metal tune with some driving double bass and tight guitar riffs.
How's The Mix? Well, it's a bit muddy. The snare is decent but needs a more depth. The tone is nice though. The double bass has a medium kick sound and is a bit dense. The drums as a whole are dry, dirty and old school death metal sounding. If you like that raw old school drum sound, you'll dig these. We would bring the double bass up a bit more and add some more oomph to the double bass mix. They need to make the subwoofers do some work.
The growl vocals, for the most part, are run of the mill for the genre. There are some extra reverb effects on the vocals which offer up a bit of depth.
The guitar mix is pretty raw, but sounds good overall. The guitar tone is fairly basic, but definitely death metal sounding enough to melt some faces. Riffs are somewhat catchy for the most part, teetering on basic. The bass guitar actually finds a bit of a louder dimension than the rest of the mix. We'd either temper that a bit or make it a bit less muddied.
Overall, we give the mix a 2.5/5. It's raw and heavy but could use some balancing and sonic finesse. Can't wait to check out the entire album. Listen to the single here on Spotify here.
